Responsibilities
Conduct thorough assessments of patients scheduled for surgical or invasive procedures to evaluate their physical and emotional readiness.
Review patients' medical histories, including pre-existing conditions, allergies, medications, and previous surgeries, to identify potential risks or complications.
Coordinate diagnostic tests such as blood work, ECGs, X-rays, and other assessments as required to ensure patients are medically fit for their procedures.
Assess and document patients' current medications, including dosage and frequency, and make recommendations for any necessary adjustments or changes in consultation with physicians.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program. A valid nursing license in the state of practice is required.
Prior nursing experience in perioperative or preoperative settings is preferred. Familiarity with preoperative assessment and care protocols is advantageous.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Certification in Perianesthesia Nursing (CAPA or CPAN) is a plus.
