Welcome Alexis Dunbar, the Newest Member of Our Senior Recruiting Team!

We’re proud to announce the newest member of our remote senior recruiting team, Alexis Dunbar! Alexis comes to us with four years’ experience in the healthcare staffing industry. She’s excited to join us!

Tell us a little about yourself.

I grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Texas for college. I graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s in Corporate Communications. (Go Longhorns! \m/)

I live in Austin, Texas, with my longtime boyfriend (who can propose any time now . . . hint, hint, Alex) and my adorable Mini Aussie, Kona!

I love to paint, and love to garden, but most of my plants don’t survive. I don’t like cold weather, so I plan on making limited visits to our home office in Wisconsin. But, I’m happy to meet up with anyone in Austin whenever!

What drew you to come work with TotalMed?

There were so many things! The opportunity to work for a company that values their employees — both internal and external. I knew several recruiters and nurses who worked with TotalMed, and they all loved their jobs. The culture is so fun — it’s easy going, laid back, yet still competitive and fast-paced. They give me the ability to be flexible for my nurses so I can help them and get them what they need. I love that!

What do you enjoy most about working with travel nurses?

As a recruiter, I get to wear multiple hats: motivator, problem solver, job hunter, listener, and sometimes even friend. I also love working with travelers because I love hearing their stories and their adventures. They are compassionate. They come into a lot of difficult situations, and they are resilient.

I’m very social, and I love being able to build relationships with my nurses. Some even turn into friendships. I get the opportunity to learn from them. These caregivers truly make a difference, and I get to help the people who make a difference in people’s lives. It’s so rewarding.

Parting words: In this industry, it’s hard to find someone you trust. I strive to go above and beyond to be that person for the caregiver, to earn their trust.
